tornadoes in the northwest. jim cantore has more live from henryville, indiana. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning. adding salt to the wound, we have snow cover. a couple of inches fell on top of all this debris. yeah, it masked it a bit. it's created new dangers. walking around this morning, if you didn't know that this was laying like this, two inches of snow would have covered up the nails, people could be stepping on this. this is one of so many houses destroyed from the tornado. we actually had two tornadoes here. the first and biggest storm took the roof off and created all this damage. i want you to look in at the back wall there. the second storm produced baseball and softball-sized hail. the marks in the wall are from hail obviously because we had no roof at this point. that was the second danger. people were out in droves trying to get whatever they can out of their homes, trying to salvage about everything. and you know, when we first got on hand, we looked around. for a small moment in time it didn't look that because. the snow masked everything, needs look p

up her two kids from school early in henryville, indiana. all three of them went into the basement before the tornado hit. the tornado ripped through their home and sent debris to the basement. from her hospital bed, decker says she tied a blanket around her kids. >> i pulled it over my children, and i tied it in a knot. i tied it so they were in this blanket tied in a knot. and everything started hitting my back, beams, pillars, furniture, everything was just slamming into my back. but i had my children in the blanket, and i was on top of them. and i was reaching around holding them. and they were screaming. >> decker lost parts of both her legs from the debris. neither of her two children was hurt. once the tornado passed, the 8-year-old ran to a neighbor to get help for his mother. her husband was at work at the time of the storm. >>> 16 after the hour. no comment from d.c.'s mayor on the fbi raid of one of the city's most prominent and politically active contractors. the home and accounting offices of inland empire thompson were -- of jeff thompson were raided as part of a camp
